TOR Project Announces Bug Fixes
Posted by: GuidePoint Security
Last week, the Tor Project (known for its free and open-source network that enables anonymous communications) released version 10.0.18 to correct several flaws, including an issue that enabled other sites to track users by fingerprinting applications installed on the user’s device. The Tor Project was particularly concerned about this flaw since anonymity is a key feature of the browser. According to researchers, the bug could track users’ IP addresses across different browsing systems—for example, if a user switched from Tor to Chrome.
The 10.0.18 version fixes the issue by changing the ‘network.protocol-handler’ setting to false.
