The Security Operations Center, or SOC, has been a mainstay of organizational cybersecurity for years. But recent changes in attack trends have left the SOC of yesterday scrambling to keep up with the rapid rate advancing techniques employed by adversaries. In this paper, we’ll review the history of SOCs, study the structure of current SOCs and show how that structure exacerbates the challenges they face, and present a solution for how they can be successful by transforming into a next-gen SOC.
